At some people's insistence (Ahem, Evan!) I guess it's time to start a blog about my adventures as an expat. Some background for those of you who don't know. I quit my job in Oct '08 because I wasn't too happy after a year there. Then the economy crashed.
I intially had two plans:
Plan A- Stay home and apply to a bunch of jobs hoping to find a new one fairly quicky.
Plan B- Apply to teach English in a foreign country.
Then the economy crashed. Plan B became my only option and I was in denial about leaving the country until I booked my plane ticket to Seoul.
It's about three weeks before I go and I'm pretty antsy. I've done pretty much everything I need to expect for pack and fill out my 8802 form. I tried to start packing last night but I found it quite overwhelming. I looked at my luggage which is a hardtop that I borrowed from my brother-in-law and I'm wondering how I'll fit a year's worth of stuff in there. It's up to my waist and probably almost 10 lbs, which means I'll only be able to fit 40lbs in the case. Hmm...bad for me. I'm gonna try putting all my clothes in plastic bags and vacuuming all the air out but there's still that 40 lb weight limit I need to watch out for.
Update: My mom was kind enough to give me a second luggage which I will definitely make good use of.
